Compulsory retirement for non-performing teachers and education officials above 50: Bihar Govt

The Bihar Government has informed that it has decided to compulsory retirement to the non-performing teachers, head masters and education department officials above the age of 50 years announced on 3rd of August 2017.

Key Points:

i.The committee is headed by RK Mahajan. The main aim is to improve results in matriculation and intermediate.

Ii.The action was taken after the poor show of students in matric and intermediate exams of the state in 2017.

iii.The state government is in process of identifying non-performing institutions and all those responsible for the poor show will be given compulsory retirement.

 

Bihar and Uttar Pradesh has least access to toilets compared to other states.

In Bihar, only 30% of the rural households had access to toilets while Uttar Pradesh was marginally better at 37%

 

President Ram Nath Kovind appoints Satya Pal Malik new Governor of Bihar

Satya Pal Malik – He was a Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Tourism in 1990. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha, twice and Lok Sabha, once. He was also, a member of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.

 

BandhanTod: App to fight child marriage launched in Bihar

The “BandhanTod” app is launched by Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on 18th of Sept. 2017. It is a unique initiative, Gender Alliance Bihar, a collective effort of over 270 civil society organisations.

  1. BandhanTod is part of Gender Alliance’s strategy to support the state government’s efforts to end child marriage and
  2. A mobile app has come up to fight the rampant social evil of child marriage in the

iii. The Gender Alliance is an initiative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

 

RJD leader and former Union minister Mohammed Taslimuddin passed away

On September 17 2017,Former Union minister and senior RashtriyaJanata Dal leader Mohammed Taslimuddin,74 died in a Chennai Appollo hospital. He had visited to Chennai for a parliamentary committee meeting.

  1. Taslimuddin was a prominent Muslim leader.He hailed from Seemanchal area in Bihar, was a seven-time MLA and five-time MP. He was the Union minister of state for home in the UPA I government at the
